I love Peak! Love the people and the workouts. It's definitely like a second home. I've been here for over a year and a half and have lost over 30 lbs and have gained some great friends.

Jiu Jitsu Kids – Courage Life Skill Week 2

April Life Skill: Courage – to be brave!

What are some ways that we teach courage?

One of the many ways that we help the kids learn to have courage is through the moves that we teach them. More often than not, our students are scared because they do not know what to do to defend themselves if they run across a bully or an overall bad situation. Through the moves that they learn from jiu jitsu and muay thai, our students (kids and adults) learn how to defend themselves, how to escape from certain situations, and offensive moves should they need them. This in return helps build confidence in themselves and gives them the courage in to defend themselves or even someone else.

Another way we help our kids gain courage is through having them identify their fears. What are they scared of, and what can they do to over com their fear. For example, for our littler kids, some are afraid of the dark. One way they can overcome their fear is by having a flashlight that they can turn on when they get scared.
